The moon is an egg. If it ever it hatches, will spawn a being of unimaginable power which will eat the earth. However, after it smashed into clock town repetitively by a skull kid possessed by majora's mask, the being inside may have died. Cultists believe that it is the moon lord's child, or something of the like.
